Wells, UK: Wells takes its name from the natural springs which feed the lake in the garden of the Bishop's Palace and the moat surrounding it. The city is dominated by the great Cathedral which is renowned for its wonderful collection of carved figures (some of them larger than life-size), which adorn the west front. While at Wells, do not miss the Chain Gate and Vicar's Close, one of the oldest medieval streets in Europe.
